An amazing day...leading to an amazing and historic moment.

I'm so glad to have been alive to experience this. Pure chills watching everything unfold.

McCain's concession speech was lovely and incredibly gracious and classy. A great man. But then there was Obama's speech, well...I still can't see my keyboard for the tears. I cried buckets. Just wow.

Congratulations, America! Here's to the future! Canada thinks you done good.

*high fives every single one of you*

Just liveblogged 26 pages of Election coverage ...so I'm going to go pass out now. See you all on the morrow.

Ladies and gentleman, once again Fox News has out done itself with it's headline (as of 2:00 pm EST, they have corrected it - but it used to read):

Canadian Voters End 13-Year Liberal Presidency

*headdesk*

And you know what's sad? A good portion of Americans (not including my f-list, who are all extremely smart bitches) probably won't notice anything wrong with that headline...

Oh...and I was a little off on my prediction of the election - the Conservatives won only a minority NOT a majority, which is a much better outcome than I had feared. Still not my choice so I reserve the right to later say "don't look at me, I didn't vote for them." But I do agree that we needed a change in goverment - no one party should hold the power for over a decade, no matter their leanings, because things become stagnant and corruption does begin to set in and because fresh and new ideas are needed to keep everyone going! But my riding went left...so that made me extremely happy...yay Parkdale-High Park!

Hilary Duff is at our MuchMusic studios downstairs right now and we have so many screaming pre-teen girls lining the streets outside the building that I think my ears have begun to bleed. GOOD LORD, tone it down!

Now I have to leave work, brave the throng of high-pitched youth and make my way home to vote in our Federal election. I am scared as hell as to the result tomorrow, so I'm going to spend the rest of the evening in denial! My wonderful, slightly socialist country is going to adopt the lovely Canadian tradition of not so much voting someone into office, as voting the current government out of office...which is so increadibly stupid and makes me extremely angry. People should vote based on their principals, values and party platforms not vote based on "well, I've ogtta vote for the opposition just because." I'm pretty sure the friend of Bush, anti-gay rights, anti-choice, pro-private education and health care, pro-high income bracket and tax cuts, Stephen Harper is going to win a majority...so to quote Ed Helms of the Daily Show, "If you want to have gay sex or visit a library, tonight is probably your last chance to do so. Personally, I'll be killing two birds with one stone." HA! I haven't been to a public library in forever and well, I've never had gay sex, but I'm always up for trying something new and since it might be my last chance...I'm so there ;)
