Okay - secret confession time...are you ready?

I love American Idol.

Yes - I know I'm Canadian and it's bad that I don't watch our version of idol but I don't. The reason? our judges are boring. It's that simple...I watch American Idol for the nutty judges and the awesome bluntness of Simon Cowell.

So each season I have a favourite out of the gate and then develop a love for some others as I go along. This season, I'm rooting for David Cook. Love his voice, love his song choices (always picks the arrangements that suit him best), his favourite band in Our Lady Peace (canadians!), and I think he deals with the nuttiness of the show well. He comes across as a bit pompous sometimes but I'm okay with that...you have to have an ego to survive in the business, so more power to him. My next favourites are Brooke White, Jason Castro and Michael Johns...you'll notice these are all people who do really well with rock (or classic rock and blues)...the stuff I enjoy.

And let's face it - there are always super crappy singers too. This year - I'd say everyone has a base vocal talent...in that none of them make my ears bleed.
